Organic pollutants pose an ever-increasing risk to ecosystems and human populations around the world. Our research examines the transformation and treatment of these pollutants in various contexts and using various techniques. For example, we investigate advanced oxidation processes, contaminants contained on flue gas desulfurization by-product from coal combustion, and defouling of membranes used in water treatment. An overarching goal of our research is to understand how these processes work on a fundamental level in order to optimize them and make them practical in real-world applications.
